Our topic for the Summer term is
"Would Beauty and the Beast like to live in Warwick Castle?’
This term's daily reads are: .
Norman and the naughty Knight, 100 facts about Knights and castles (NF) Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast (Year 2 Sink and Swim)
In English, we will be learning about Non-fiction writing about Castles We will
also be writing the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Plus lots of work on rainbow grammar and SPAG based on our daily reads.
In reading, we will continue to work on decoding and reading with speed and accuracy. We will also be focussing upon asking and answering questions about a text and we will complete some SATS practice papers. Try to read at least 3 times a week with an adult and talk about what you have read. Remember to get your diary signed!
In science, we will be learning about taking care of ourselves & understanding our body (SRE)
We will also be identifying, classifying and grouping animals
In maths we are learning lots this term!
We are continuing counting, Partitioning and Calculating, Securing Number Facts, Geometry, statistics and reasoning through using and applying lessons. Also we will continue to become faster at recalling multiplication facts from the 2, 5, 10 times tables. We will continue to learn how to complete all four calculations. Further to this, we will be learning strategies to calculate mentally in both addition and subtraction. We will also be completing some SATS practice papers.
We will be starting the term off with a history day, learning about castles, why did people build castles, jobs in a castle and castle life.
In art we will be focussing on the artist Paul Klee and creating a picture of a castle in the style of Paul Klee.
In IT, throughout the term, we will focus upon E safety and learn how to programme and debug programmes.
PE day is on a Tuesday and we will be working on multi skills. Please remember to bring a white or red t-shirt, red or black shorts and pumps or trainers. Remove earrings before school if possible.
Homework is given out on a Friday and collected in the following Friday. Don't forget to practice your spellings ready for our spelling quiz every Friday!
Remember to read at home as much as you can, and get your diary signed. Each time you get your diary signed you will be able to move up the reading ladder and when you reach the top (10 reads) you will receive a small treat!
