Daily reads spring 2 : Where The Wild Things Are, Seaside Poems, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, Lucy and Tom

In English we will be writing stories,  based on the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood.  We will be looking at persuasive writing about the country Rio.  We will be learning how to write instructions of how to make a  Brazilian Headdress.  The children will be writing their part of their school report.  We are very excited to be writing about our local history.  From 2nd of July for 2 weeks we are going to be finding out all about our local history.  Towards the end of term we will be writing a letter to our new teacher.

In reading, we will continue to work on decoding and reading with speed and accuracy. We will also be focussing upon asking and answering questions about a text and we will complete some SATS practice papers.  Try to read at least 3 times a week with an adult and talk about what you have read. Remember to get your diary signed!

In Science, we'll complete observations of seasonal change throughout the Year. Our main learning will be looking at animals and their classification.  We will be finding out about growing up and taking care of ourselves.

In maths we are learning lots this term!

Cool Count: 2, 5 and 10 times tables and related division facts.

The main part of our lessons will focus on Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. We will be using a concrete, pictorial, abstract approach and will use a wide variety of representations and methods – this will help us to Master Maths!  We will also be looking at money, time, positional direction and statistics.

We will also be completing some SATS practice papers.

In computing, throughout the term, we will focus upon E safety, using word programme, algorithms and debugging.

PE day is Thursday and we will be working on multi skills and athletics.  Please remember to bring a white or red t-shirt, red or black shorts and pumps or trainers.  Remove earrings before school if possible.

Homework is given out on a Friday and collected in the following Friday. Don't forget to practice your spellings ready for our spelling quiz every Friday!

Remember to read at home as much as you can, and get your diary signed.  Each time you get your diary signed you will be able to move up the reading ladder and when you reach the top (10 reads) you will receive a small treat!
