Our topic question this term is.......
What did the Romans do for us?
Our thought provoking topic question this term will enable us to learn about the Ancient Romans and explore the impact they had in Great Britain and across Europe. We will be learning about what life was like in Roman times, about the Roman army, Boudicca and what the Romans left behind.
To further enhance our learning we will be visiting Mansfield Museum - taking part in a history workshop.
Garage Band which will enable us to create a movie sound track. During the second half term our focus will be based on data handling. We will create and publish an online questionnaire and analyse the results.
Our RSHE work will centre around 'Healthy bodies and healthy minds.' We will learn about how to make healthy choices and what a healthy influence is. During the second half term we will focus on 'Coping with change.' We will discuss what happens to the body during puberty. In both half terms we will complete lessons on equality, inclusion and anti-bullying.
Art / DT
Roman Mosaics, and we will be making some of own. As part of our DT work, we will be using our textiles skillset to make Roman purses. We will also learn about Roman architects and artists.
During this term the children will describe Hindu beliefs about the gods and goddesses. The children will show that they understand what happens at Hindu worship in the home or the mandir. They will also learn about two Hindu festivals thinking about their similarities and differences.
The children will learn vocabulary based on these topics. This will include animal names, telling the time and phrases to describe the weather and temperature.
Our music themes are Blackbird - Beatles music and during the second half term Reflect, Rewind and Replay – Classical music.
The Blackbird unit allows children to sing, improvise and compose alongside the unit song.
