Our thought provoking question for the Autumn Term is:


What did the Ancient Egyptians achieve?



Our English work in the first half term will be based around the narrative ‘The Egyptian Cinderella.' We will use Talk for Writing to help us write a character description and some narrative too. During the second half term, our focus will be on non-fiction writing.  We will be applying our knowledge of the Ancient Egyptians to write mummification instructions and non-chronological reports. We will continue to have a strong focus on handwriting, spelling, grammar and punctuation throughout the term.




Guided Reading

In Guided Reading, we will be focusing on developing our reading skills and linking this with answering questions about a text. We will also be developing our inference skills - using clues to help us answer questions.




This term, we will be focusing on place value and addition and subtraction. We will also be learning about length and perimeter and multiplication and division as we progress into the second half term. There will be a real focus on learning the timestables up to 12x12 and being able to recall them confidently.




In Science, we will be learning about two different topics in the Autumn term. The first topic is called ‘In a State’ and we will be exploring material properties and learning about solids, liquids and gases. In the second half term, we will be learning about electricity during our Switched On topic.






Our thought provoking topic question will enable us to dive into an ancient world as we learn all about the Ancient Egyptians. We will be exploring who were the Ancient Egyptians and when they were around as well as what life was like for them. Also, we will be learning about mummification and Egyptian Gods. We will also be getting the atlases out to discover more about Egypt’s physical and human features.




Our computing work will, as always, involve work around E-Safety and knowing how to stay safe online. Our main focus will be Coding and using Spreadsheets.




Our RSHE work will centre around 'What qualities a friend has' and how to solve disagreements. We will spend time talking and debating on how we can be good friends in a range of situations.



Art / DT

In our Art and DT lessons, we will be focussing on the Ancient Egyptians where we will be creating Egyptian portraits and replicating Egyptian burial masks. In the second half term, we will be applying our Science knowledge to create an electrical game!




PE will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday will be outdoors working on 'Games' skills and Thursday will be indoors working on 'Dance.' Please ensure correct kit is sent on these days. 




Our RE theme this term is 'The journey of life and death. We will consider why do some people think life is like a journey? We will compare how people celebrate a new baby's birth and learn about funeral rituals.




Our French topics are called - All Aboard and Pocket Money

The themes will allow the children to learn the days of the week and phrases linked with transport and weather. Also, they will learn about 'Euros' and countries that use them. 




Our music themes are 'Mama Mia' and 'Glockenspiel Stage 2'

Children will sing, play, improvise and compose with the song Mama Mia and they will revise, play and read the notes C, D, E, F and G on the Glockenspiel. They will also learn to play more complex patterns.

Homework will be set every Friday through our remote learning platform - SeeSaw. 

We also need your support in practising reading , spelling and times tables at home.
