Our Spring term topic is
What is the most powerful natural force?
We will continue to improve our skills in writing different types of sentences and using these in our writing. Our writing focus will be writing poetry about natural forces and character descriptions based on the story ‘Escape from Pompeii.’ We will also write a character description of a dragon using‘The Dreamgiver' as a starting point.
Each week we will have a reading session where we will develop our reading and comprehension skills. This will involve reading in a group and individually. We will get to know the text well through discussion, role play and will answer questions about it.
In maths our focus will be on multiplication and division. We will be focusing on learning the working on times tables each week and mastering the 3, 4, and 8 times tables.
Our topic this term is focused on the natural forces in the world. We will be finding out about earthquakes, volcanoes, what the world is made up of and how mountains are formed.
Art and DT
In art we will be creating our own pictures of the 'Great wave of Kanagawa' In DT we will create our own erupting volcanoes.
In PE our focus will be dance on Mondays and on Wednesdays we will be having gymnastics. Please make sure a PE kit is in school and as it can be cold in the hall sometimes the children will need jogging bottoms and a tracksuit top. Please make sure earrings have been taken out before school, as we cannot take them out for them.
In RE this term we will be focusing on the Islamic religion and finding out about the main beliefs and celebrations that are followed. We will also be learning about the meaning of the Christian celebration of Easter.
The focus of our work in this area will be caring and responsibility and also families and committed relationships.
This term we will follow the Charanga scheme and the theme is Three Little Birds and The Dragon song.
In French the first topic is Celebrations with the focus What am I good at? and months of the year. The second topic Portraits with the themes of colours and body parts and will have fun using them in simple conversations.

Homework will be set every Friday through our remote learning platform - SeeSaw.
We also need your support in practising reading , spelling and times tables at home.
