Welcome to Monkeys
We work hard, try our best, and have fun.
Mrs Murfitt is the class teacher and Mrs Senior, Mrs Maskery and Mrs Wilson are our teaching assistants.
We are all looking forward to a really exciting Summer Term.
Our theme and thought provoking question for the Summer Term is:
‘What is the most powerful natural force on Earth?’
Please find below a description of all the amazing work we will be doing in our action packed Summer Term.
Our English work in the first half term will be based around the text Escape from Pompeii, as well as looking at poetry. During the second half term, we will focus more on
non-fiction texts and information texts so we can write about all the things
we’ve learnt in our topic. Alongside this, we will continue to include spelling and
grammar work in our lessons.
This term, we will be looking at different measures including time. We will also learn about shape and statistics. We will continue to have a strong focus on times table facts. Our lessons will be having lots of problem solving and mastery activities in them.
We will Rock Detectives and How Does Your Garden Grow?.
Data bases and e.mail
We will be making 3D papier mache models of volcanoes and watching them erupt! We will also be learning about Japanese artist Hokusai and recreating his famous painting ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa.’
Whole school circle time focussing upon current issues.
Our topic this term is a geography based topic, looking at natural disasters such as volcanoes, earthquakes. We will be doing lots of practical activities as well as map work, locating these disasters around the world. We will also look at the formation and features of mountains.
