Back to school on Tuesday 25th February :)

Pelicans Y6

We are Pel I CAN s!

Our class teacher is Mrs Gear and we are lucky to have Miss Richards, Miss Parker and Mrs Senior working with us at various times over the week.

Our Topic Question for the Spring Term is...

Is trade always Fair?

As part of our second fantastic topic, we will analyse and evaluate our global trade routes. Beginning  with early Islamic history we will uncover how trade helped develop this ancient dynasty . From this we will move on to specifically explore and compare trade across the rest of the world. As we move through time, children will find out about migrants, slavery and fair trade; finally, deciding whether there is such a thing as 'fair' trade.

Our writing focus will begin with using the music video 'Titanium' by David Guetta. From this we will produce a variety of text types, developing our vocabulary.  We will be the begin exploring diary entries, using these to help us understand what it would have been like to be in the early Islamic dynasty, a migrant or even a slave.

This term we will be unpicking fractions and how to solve reasoning problems. We will be continuing to practise our arithmetic weekly and developing our rapid recall!

Our Spring Term Science topics are 'Nature Library' and 'Our Changing World'.

These exciting topics will teach us how living things are grouped and classified. The children will be able to describe examples of animal behaviour and, based on their observations, suggest reasons for the behaviours.

Year 6 will have PE on a Monday.  Please remember to have your full PE kit in school!

Remember to read as often as you can and get your reading record signed - you will earn a star stamp each time!

We read everyday in school so you will need your reading book and reading record with you.

Also, make sure you access your online reading books using your BUG CLUB account!

Two piece of homework will be given out on a Friday and the children will have a week to complete, these are inside the children's CGP SATS books.  Additionally, the children should read daily and practice their spellings.

If you would like to have a chat or pass on any information please feel free to come into class; we will be more than happy to see you. For a lengthier chat please arrange an after school appointment.
