We are Pel I CAN s!
Our class teacher is Mrs Gear and we are lucky to have Miss Richards supporting our class with all of our online learning!
Welcome to the Summer Term!
Thank you all so much for your support with our Seesaw home learning! We are really impressed with how you've interacted with our new style of learning; you've all been amazing.
Your timetable for the term is now available and you will be set fresh work each day all around our new topic and class text.
Keep up the hard work and don't forget to upload other activities that you may be getting up to. We really enjoy seeing what you are learning and most importantly keeping in touch :)
Our Topic Question for the Summer Term is...
Apollo or Archimedes - Who was the real Greek God?
As part of this exciting topic, we will begin by discovering more about Ancient Greek history. The children will learn about Greek governments, their alphabet, discoveries and more! We will even compare the famous cities- Athens and Sparta. To do this, we will be using different historical sources of information alongside our own research to inform our knowledge about Ancient Greek life.
Reading is one of the most important activities that you can share with your children, as it is fun, relaxing and teaches them so much new vocabulary.
Our book for the Summer Term is
'Who Let the Gods Out' by Maz Evans.
....When a shooting star crashes to earth, it lands Eliot smack bang in the path of Virgo - a young Zodiac goddess on a mission. But when the pair accidentally release Thanatos, a wicked death daemon imprisoned beneath Stonehenge, they've got nowhere to turn for help but to the old Olympian gods.
This book is available on Kindle and audible on Amazon.
In Maths, we will be focusing on Angles. Learning about the different types, acute, right, obtuse and reflex.
All of our maths is being accessed from the White Rose Maths hub home learning platform.
Our Spring Term Science topics are all around electricity and light! We will be exploring the scientific concepts surrounding these and researching the theories around two of the most important aspects of physics!
Art and D.T
In art, you will be getting creative by designing your own version of Greek Mosaics. We will be exploring different greek sculptures, creating sketches of some of our favourite. Greek pottery is famous for its retelling of famous stories. We will be recreating some of our own greek pottery, designing our own patterns and stories!
Our ICT focus will begin as always with-e-safety. We will then be learning all about blogging which will be an excellent way of staying in touch during these tricky times!
Music and R.E
Plastic pollution is the hot topic that just won’t go away - literally!
It’s a real problem for the environment and wildlife of the planet.
You will research the issue of plastic pollution and write your own song using the given example video as your inspiration. Your song can be performed to raise awareness and challenge the thinking of those around you. There will also be plenty of opportunities for cross-curricular learning. In RE we will be discovering all about eternity and immortality.
PE with Joe Wicks. We are so lucky to have him our the 'Nations PE Teacher!'... Make sure you tune in to his daily PE session, live at 9am!
