To Robins!



We are the rocking Robins and we try our best in everything we do! Our class teachers are Mrs Campbell-Short (Monday- Thursday) and Mrs Smith (Friday).

Our topic this Summer term is:


How does your garden grow?



Our topic this term is ‘how does your garden grow?’. We will be learning all about what plants need to grow and why. We will be super busy growing and caring for our own plants in our outdoor provision too!  We are also going to be learning about different kinds of life cycles, such as plants and in particular, caterpillars. We are going to learn the nursery rhyme Mary, Mary Quite Contrary and look at non-fiction texts to help us learn too. Later in the term, we will learn all about heroes and we will discover that heroes are not just the ones on our screens! Also in this term, we are going to be learning all about Eid. We will learn about how different people celebrate these festivities and will take part in different activities based on them.





Over the term we will be covering all of the seven Foundation Stage Areas of learning.



Communication and Language

We will rehearse and speak in front of others, listen to others' ideas and share our own knowledge and ideas with our peers and our families. We will also be telling our own stories and acting them out.



Physical Development

This term we will be practicing a variety of skills, for example threading and cutting, to develop our fine motor skills. We will also take part in two weekly PE lessons to develop our gross motor skills, including balancing, coordination and travelling in different ways.

We will be working with Miss Holly on Monday's, practicing our dance and yoga skills. On Wednesday's we will be working with Heather learning different skills needed to play games and sports.



Personal, Social and Emotional Development

We will continue to think about our actions and how to be good friends to everyone in the class. We will think about what actions are good and which actions we need to improve upon. We will continue to learn all about our Golden Rules and how to follow them inside and outside. 

We will also learn about the cultures and beliefs of others.






We will be looking in depth at our shared stories and will continue joining in with the repeated refrains in the books. We will predict the endings to the stories and continue to identify the front cover and its features. We will use our phonics knowledge to help us develop our writing skills. We will continue to learn sounds in phonics, solidifying our knowledge and increasing our segmenting and blending skills. We will be focusing on independent writing throughout the final term.

Some of the stories we will be sharing this term are: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Don’t Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late, Supertato and Dear Teacher.




We will continue to practise our counting skills through our ‘Cool Count’, which includes counting forwards, backwards, in 2's and recognising numbers. We will be practising making sets and making comparisons between two groups of objects, saying which group has more or less. We will also be learning how to add. We will be participating in shape, space and measures activities in our provision.




Understanding of the World

 In the first half term, we will be focusing on growth, decay and changes overtime. We are going to learn about lifecycles, and to help us further understand we will be taking part in lots of exciting experiments. In the second half term of Spring, we will learn all about superheroes. We will be looking at fiction and non-fiction texts to help us understand that not all superheroes wear capes! We will be taking on the role of doctors, police, firefighters and doctors in our role play area to help us understand their important roles. In addition to this, we are going to learn about the different beliefs and cultures of others by learning about EID.




Expressive and Creative Development

Over the term, we will be using a variety of techniques and equipment to make different models and pictures. We will be learning about colours and begin to explore the effects of mixing colours together. We will also be creating our own stories and acting them out with our peers.

P.E. is every Monday and Wednesday.

Monday- Indoor PE kit to be sent into school for the children to get changed into. 


Wednesday- children to come to school in outdoor PE kit (jogging bottoms, hooded top, trainers etc). No uniform required on this day. 

Please make sure long hair is tied up and no jewellery to be worn. No earrings allowed in PE sessions. If you child cannot take them out, they need to be covered with plasters. 


Please send your child to school with a bottle of water each day. 

Please can children bring book bags to school everyday.
