Tigers Y6

Year Six

Our class teacher is Mrs Hamilton and we are lucky to have Mr Dobb and Miss Parker working with us at various times over the week.

Thank you all so much for how you've interacted with our new style learning on Seesaw.  You've all been amazing.  Your timetable for the term in now available and you will be set fresh work each day all around our new topic.  Keep up the hard work and don't forget to upload other activities that you may be getting up to.  We really enjoy hearing all about it!

Our Topic Question for the Summer Term is...

Apollo or Archimedes - Who was the real Greek God?

As part of this exciting topic, we will begin by discovering more about the Ancient Greece time period. The children will learn about Greek governments.  They will compare Athens and Sparta. We will be using different sources of information to find out about ancient Greek life.

Reading is one of the most important activities that you can share with your children, as it is fun, relaxing and teaches them so much new vocabulary.

Our book for the Summer Term is

'Who Let the Gods Out' by Maz Evans.

This book is available on Kindle and audible on Amazon.

In Maths, we will be focusing on Angles.  Learning about the different types, acute, right, obtuse and reflex.

Our Spring Term Science topics are 'Nature Library' and 'Our Changing World'.

These exciting topics will teach us how living things are grouped and classified. The children will be able to describe examples of animal behaviour and, based on their observations, suggest reasons for the behaviours.

Art and D.T

In art, you will be getting creative by designing your own version of Greek Mosaics.

Our ICT focus will begin as always with-e-safety.  We will then be learning all about blogging which will be an excellent way of staying in touch during these tricku times!

Music and R.E

Plastic pollution is the hot topic that just won’t go away - literally!

It’s a real problem for the environment and wildlife of the planet.

You will research the issue of plastic pollution and write your own song using the given example video as your inspiration. Your song can be performed to raise awareness and challenge the thinking of those around you. There will also be plenty of opportunities for cross-curricular learning.

and in RE we will be discovering all about eternity and immortality.
