Our class teacher is Mrs Hamilton and we are lucky to have Mr Dobb, Mrs Cheetham and Mrs Senior working with us at various times over the week.
Our Topic Question for the Autumn Term is...
Whose court room was the cruelest?
As part of this fascinating topic, we will analyse and evaluate crime and punishment through the ages. Beginning with the Romans, then onto the Anglo Saxons and Vikings. The children will learn about the impact of Roman law and how the Anglo Saxons and Viking preferred the payment of compensation to punishment. From the medieval and Tudor periods the children will discover the introduction of some pretty brutal punishments! As we move through time, children will find out about smugglers and poachers and how criminals were transported. During the concluding parts of the topic we will learn about the beginnings of the police force during the Victorian era. The topic will end with making comparison to crime and punishment today.
We have some very exciting visits and visitors planned and we know this is going to be a fascinating and thrilling topic!
