Our Topic Question for the Spring Term is...
From Farm To Fork.
Where does our food come from?
In English we will be looking at traditional tales and non fiction text.
Talk for Writing will help us to produce some fantastic writing this term.
We are going to using some really interesting stories to help inspire our writing. We will be focusing on re-writing a story and writing non-fiction information texts.
We will also be building different sentence types in our 'Rainbow Grammar' work and focusing on letter and number formation in daily handwriting sessions.
In Maths, we will be learning multiplication, division and fractions.
Our Science topic will be 'Our Changing World'. We will be investigating all about plants and looking at how the seasons affect the environment.
We will be learning what happens to our food, understanding where it comes from and how it is made.
In Art we will be focusing on the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and creating our own version of fruit faces.
In D.T, we will be planning, making, tasting and evaluating our own delicious fruit salad.
Our Computing work will, as always, involves work around E-Safety and knowing how to stay safe online. Our main focus will be learning how to use the computer to support our daily work and using Purple Mash (Coding).
Alongside all of this topic work we will be continuing with Music, "Your Imagination"
In our RE learning, we will be learning about 'Places of worship' during an exciting RE days.
Please remember to have your full PE kit in school!
This term we will be exploring dance through stories and developing our balance and co-ordination through multiskills.
Year 1 P.E days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Reading at home
Remember to read every night and get your diary signed - you will earn a star stamp each time!
We read everyday in school so you will need your reading book and reading diary with you every day.
Also, have a go at reading a book using your BUG CLUB account on the activelearn website.
Please make sure you have your reading diary with you for the phonics quiz on Friday.
