Through following a clear and comprehensive scheme of work in line with the National Curriculum, it expected that teaching and learning of knowledge and skills will show progression across all key stages within the strands of Art and Design including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and 3D art. It is our aim that children will retain knowledge and skills taught within each unit of work, remember these and understand how to use and apply them in their own art work. The way pupils showcase, share, celebrate and publish their work will best show the impact of our curriculum. We also look for evidence through reviewing pupil’s knowledge and skills, observing learning and pupil voice. A monitoring timetable is in place to identify how our art curriculum is arranged across the year and rectify any issues that arise to ensure that the children receive the most effective provision. Evidence with be gathered throughout the terms to show progression in the children’s artistic skills. Children will also be assessed against the ‘end of phase’ objectives to determine whether ARE has been achieved. Previously taught skills and knowledge will be revisited throughout the year to establish whether core knowledge has been embedded or not.
