At Crescent Primary School, we are Geographers!
We seek to inspire in our children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people which will remain with them for the rest of their lives, to ‘Dream BIG’ and grow up wanting to be cartographers, town planners, conservationist or weather forecasters. Our aim is that, through the teaching of Geography at Crescent, we provide a purposeful platform for exploring, appreciating and understanding the world in which we live and how it has evolved and to promote the children’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human characteristics. We intend for children to become passionate and knowledgeable about our local community and beyond, by learning through experiences in practical and fieldwork activities. Our curriculum has been carefully designed and sequenced to ensure children can know more and remember more. Crescent’s geography curriculum gives opportunities to develop knowledge and skills that are transferable to other curriculum areas’ allowing children to make links in their learning as well as ‘creating connections’ to the real world. Such connections promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our children developing cultural capital, working towards establishing ‘healthy minds’ with the overarching aim to achieve happiness, success and learning for life.
